Introduction
Typically,
the law enforcement workforce across the globe has been mostly
dominated by men. Ever since the induction of the first female police
officer in 1908, women have been making their way into the law
enforcement field. Many women have proven that they are willing and able to
take on the duties of law enforcement positions, however there remains many people
that believe women to be unfit for a job reliant on physical demands and mostly dominated by men. Research has proven that women's more communicative style of problem solving in policing is equally has effective as their male counterpart. Since 1987, the percent of
female law enforcement officers has increased from 7.8 percent to 12 percent
in 2011.
